Kulgam, Nov 08 (KNO): Continuing its commitment towards public service, transparency and citizen-friendly policing, Police in Kulgam on Saturday said to have traced and recovered 46 missing and stolen mobile phones valued in lakhs of rupees and handed them over to their rightful owners.
The recovered phones were traced in response to various complaints received by the Cyber Police Station Kulgam from different areas of the district, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
The recovery and return ceremony was organised at the Cyber Police Station Kulgam, where DySP Headquarters Kulgam Nisar Ahmad formally handed over the recovered devices to the complainants after proper verification and authentication in presence of police officers and staff from the cyber unit.
During the event, DySP HQRS Kulgam interacted with the mobile phone owners and reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir Police is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen while maintaining public trust through transparent policing.
He commended the dedicated efforts of the Cyber Police Station Kulgam team for their professionalism, technical expertise, and consistent follow-up in tracing the missing devices through advanced tracking methods and coordination with telecom service providers and technical agencies.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary appreciated the team of Cyber Police Station Kulgam for their effective efforts in locating the missing devices.
He further urged citizens to stay alert against online frauds, cybercrimes, and social media scams, advising them to follow safe online practices and report any suspicious activities immediately.
For reporting lost or stolen mobile phones, people are encouraged to use the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal at www.ceir.gov.in, developed by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India—(KNO)
